About our artistic journey:
This course will teach students to demonstrate a level of technical and conceptual proficiency in two and three-dimensional art. We will be exploring many different mediums and techniques. This course strives to make connections and provide inspiration from different styles, cultures, and time periods. My art students will work to balance conceptual and skill based objectives, as well as create quality work by developing their understanding of the disciplines of art.
Structure and Class Culture:
Students will be guided in developing a cohesive body of work that explores and communicates their comprehension of the given lectures, lessons, practices, projects, and exhibitions as young artists. At the end of each project, critiques and class discussions will be held to better each students’ work. We will Respect, Listen, and Help each other and maintain a positive attitude and keep our expectations high. We will be respectful to the creativity and sensitivity of other students in the classroom. "YOU DO NOT HAVE TO BE GOOD AT ART TO PASS THIS CLASS, BUT YOU MUST GIVE YOUR BEST EFFORTS." -Mr.Gibson
Art Classroom Rules/Expectations:
1.) Arrive to class on time and prepared.
2.) Be courteous and polite.
3.) Be responsible.
4.) Keep your hands, feet, and all objects to yourself.
5.) Speak quietly and at appropriate times. Do not cause distractions.
6.) Be Creative!!!!
There will be a weekly participation grade of 10 points given. Points can be deducted for making choices contrary to the classroom expectations stated above.

Attendance & Late Work:
Each student should be on time and ready to work, work, work, work, work, work! Students should also come to class prepared with the appropriate materials. Those are your Resource Book, pencils and an eraser. Missed class work due to an absence will be made up the following week. Absence from school necessitates that the student contact the teacher (via email) to acquire assignments and missed work.

90%-100% A Excellent Effort- Met All Objectives- Completed All Work
80%-89% B Good Effort- Objectives Met- Completed Most Work
70%-79% C Okay Effort- Most Objectives Met- Some Incomplete Work
60-%69% D Inconsistent Effort- Met Some Objectives- Some Incomplete Work
50% F No such thing in Art...
This class will be dominated by projects (both large and small), artist's statements, and responses (critic/pair-share).
Supplies Needed:
Students will been to pick up a few items for class. Those item are:
3 pencils (#2), 1 eraser,
1 black Sharpie pen fine or ultra fine
1 roll masking tape, painters tape or packaging tape
1 small sketchbook (8 1/2 x 11 or 9 x 12 works best)
Art Department Wish/Donation List:
The Art Department at GTMS can use supplies that you may have and no longer need. We welcome contributions of any of the following items:
Tissues
Paper towels
Sharpies - Regular or Fine Tipped
Disinfectant wipes/ Wet wipes
Styrofoam Egg Cartons
Ziploc storage baggies assorted sizes
Mat board scraps of any size
Any craft, art paper, scrapbook paper, etc.
Old Newspapers
Plastic and glass small containers ex. baby jars, sour cream containers cleaned with lids
Small wood scraps for sculpture bases
Plastic microwavable trays for paint palettes
Fabric scraps
Ribbons, buttons, findings
